Four years ago, I bought this mini sketchpad. It was an exciting blank canvas. Even though my profession involves photography, drawing has always been my first love, and admittedly, it comes more naturally to me. I recently filled the sketchpad fully, and it felt symbolic.
Each drawing is my own little therapy session. A lot of this sketchpad is filled with chaotic notes and unfinished drawings. These just happen to be the “complete” ones (a bunch soaked by rain for a little character). I’ve shared them one by one over the years, but it’s nice to see em all together.
My best work doesn’t exist yet (both drawing and photography). Mostly because I’m not my best self yet. We learn and grow daily. I do think that it’s the most intentional I’ve been so far with just about anything. The messy notes are as important to me as final product. I used to hate showing raw chaos, the rough draft, or the unpolished whatever, but I kinda love it now. Much caffeine was consumed.
