Those eyes pierce straight through to my soul. This was one of the coolest owl encounters I’ve had. It was hunting the roadside as I drove by and noticed it diving down from the trees. As I watched it perching and then diving down in attempts to capture its next meal it eventually had success. I couldn’t quite tell what it had in its talons. It flew to a branch and called out. Suddenly an owlet flew to the branch and joined the adult. The adult delicately passed over something very small to the owlet using its beak. The owlet flew off to a higher branch and as I zoomed in on it I was able to see what it was having for lunch. The parent had brought it a small salamander. I’ll share that image in the future but needless to say I enjoyed watching the interaction very much. If you like this image you can have it in time for Christmas.
