GREEN HERON - I’ve had this dude on my list of wanted birds to photograph for a long time. I have managed a few shots over the years but all were in poor conditions that did not produce acceptable results. I was having a productive day photographing at Finley wildlife refuge. I was shooting from the car facing one side of the road and had began to get a kink in my neck. As I sat the camera down for a moment I saw this beauty sitting on the railing on the opposite side of the road. I slowly rolled down the window and some how it miraculously did not fly off. It continued to pose and allow me to capture several images that I do consider acceptable. I think the moral of this story is try not to bury your head in your camera to the point you miss the golden opportunity directly in front of you.
