What an experience... my third race in eight days and my knee said no half way through... I started beating myself up and forgetting that I was supposed to be enjoying the experience of this race (and not trying to PR again). And when I got home, it didn’t settle in how lucky I really am. I finished. Nine years ago I was in a bad motorcycle accident that left people amazed I was even alive and the doctors said I’d never swim or run competitively again. A year and a half ago, I decided I was going to try running again. In the last year, I’ve run 13 races, set 4 personal records, 3 were challenge weekends, and 1 top 3 finish in my class... so when you start being hard on yourself over situations you can’t control, think about what you should be grateful for and not what you don’t have.
