You’d better not kill the groove - because @sophieellisbextor’s “Murder on the Dancefloor” is kicking off the new year in style. 🪩 From her first solo album, ‘Read My Lips,’ and written by Ellis-Bextor and Gregg Alexander in 2001, the song recently gained major traction on the charts after being featured in the iconic closing scene of the late 2023 film ‘Saltburn.’ 🎞️ In an interview with @nmemagazine, she explained how she was happy Director Emerald Fennel wanted to use the song specifically for this film. “I just felt like it tied everything together in terms of the tone of the film and the juxtaposition of the sort of sweetness of the pop song, but also a little sting in the tail with the lyrics as well,” she said. “I think it works. But how lovely for me, I mean, look, I’ve been singing ‘Murder’ for over 20 years and it’s so nice that it still has the power to surprise me.” #SophieEllisBextor #MurderOnTheDancefloor #ReadMyLips #SaltBurn #PopMusic
