We’re throwing it back this #Rocktober to celebrate the master of blues, @bbkingofficial 💙 King’s first (and only) appearance on the @theedsullivanshow back in October of 1970 showcased a performance of “The Thrill Is Gone,” and what a thrill it was for him! “National TV was a novelty for me, and the idea of appearing on Sullivan, the biggest show in the country, was frightening…” he wrote in his autobiography. “Two days of rehearsals meant lots of waiting, waiting, waiting. The rock ‘n’ roll and soul stars were used to national TV; they’d been playing American Bandstand for years.
