The week ahead of Windrush Day, The King and Queen have hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace in celebration of the Windrush Generation and to mark 75 years since the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush. Last year, His Majesty commissioned ten Black artists to create ten Windrush portraits, which will become part of the Royal Collection and a lasting memorial to all the men, women and children who came to Britain from the Caribbean.
