In February 1952, when The Queen acceded to the throne, she also became Head of the Commonwealth – a family of nations, spanning every geographical region, religion and culture. This #CommonwealthDay, take a look back at Her Majesty’s service to the Commonwealth over the last 70 years. This afternoon, Members of The Royal Family will attend the annual Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey. The Service is the first in-person gathering of the Commonwealth since the start of the pandemic and will reflect Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee Year with a special focus on the role that service plays in the lives of people and communities across the Commonwealth.
