๐ฅ Today is Stir-up Sunday: traditionally the day when home cooks โstir upโ their Christmas pudding mixture on the Sunday before the Advent season - and the countdown to Christmas - begins.
This year, chefs in the Royal kitchens have shared their recipe for a traditional Christmas pudding. We hope that some of you enjoy making it in your own homes.ย
The recipe will make two 1kg puddings. Ingredients as follows:
๐ 250g raisins
๐ 250g currants
๐ 185g sultanas
๐ 150g mixed peel
๐ง 250g suet or vegetarian suet
๐ 250g breadcrumbs
๐พ 90g flour
๐12g mixed spice
๐ฅ 2 whole eggs
๐ฌ180g demerara sugarย
๐บ 275ml beer
๐น 40ml dark rum
๐ฅ 40ml brandy
๐ซ If you donโt want to use alcohol, you can substitute for orange juice or cold tea.
On Christmas Day, reheat your pudding in a bain-marie for 3-4 hours. Remove from the basin using a rounded knife or palette knife, flip out onto a plate, garnish or flambeฬ and serve with brandy sauce and cream.
