The lake, seen here, is man-made, and lined with clay to ensure the water does not escape. When the clay was first laid, the workmen allowed cattle to walk over it, binding it with their hooves.

Photographer Michael said: “Visiting Buckingham Palace Gardens felt overwhelming at first yet extremely exciting at the same time. Capturing images in our own style, without a preconception of which compositions work better or worse, as I’ve never seen any photos from inside the garden, sparked a breath of fresh, creative ideas we could try and experiment with on the spot.”
