Dustin Hopkins has been an up-and-down player during his tenure in DC. Being the starting kicker since Week 2 of 2015, he’s become a familiar face. Hopkins is coming off his worst career year however, kicking sub-80% in FGs and battling a hamstring injury throughout the year. It’s seems like a popular decision amongst fans for what to do here, but it might not be that simple. Here’s what we’d do: — Jess: It’s easy to trash on Hopkins, I get it. It felt like on multiple occasions during the year the offense would muster a drive downfield, only for Hopkins to miss an early FG. That overlooked the fact that Hopkins made kicks when it counted. A lot of people can underrated how hard it can be to find a good or even average kicker . Hopkins did not have a good year, but that could work to the team’s advantage here.
