Here’s something I rarely talk about: postpartum body image.
This week has marked a year since I started working out consistently after giving birth to Theodore. I didn’t start because I wanted to lose weight. I started because I wanted to love my body again.
You see, I stopped loving my body after my stillbirth. That body had betrayed me and I went into my third pregnancy with a deep distrust of it.
This past year has seen its fair share of exercising challenges. Gyms in San Francisco were closed, so I found physique57’s online classes and did futurefitapp in my living room. And little by little, I got reacquainted with my body again. It started to feel stronger and very slowly, I began to trust it more.
So here I am, a year later. Friends, I am no fitness influencer. I’m just a mom who lost a baby and needed to be reminded that it wasn’t my body’s fault.
Strength grows in those little moments, in the squats I do next to my kitchen table and the runs I make after the kids go...
