After I lost Hoff, it was hard to see pregnant women until a wise friend pointed out that “we only see someone’s blessings.” I didn’t see which pregnant women had struggled with infertility, with loss. I didn’t see which women had walked a long, heartbreaking road. That simple piece of advice changed my perspective. If you look at me without knowing my story, you would see a happy, joyful mom of two boys. You would not see the deep saddest I felt for so long. This Sunday is a hard day for many women. For the mamas who are missing their babies, who are missing their mamas, who want so very much to become mamas, it’s just another day of heartbreaking reminders. You will see lots of glossy, perfectly posed pictures. That is not real life. As my friend said, you’re only going to see their blessings. And that may feel really hard. So friend, be gentle with yourself. Go do something that will fill your soul and know that your worth is not found in one holiday. #mothersday #motherhood...
