I love photo memories and this week’s was the best! It reminded me that 12 (12?!) years ago today, my sweet parents boarded their first international flight to visit me in Oman. I love every picture. My mom’s face as she climbed up on that camel, my dad’s sincere ability in making friends wherever he goes, and my parent’s total embrace of this beautiful part of the world. As a parent, I often think about how hard it must have been for them to let me pack my bags and move so far away, and how relieved they must have been to find that I had made a community in Oman that treated me like family. It reminds me of something I read on a blog a long time ago, “thank you for learning about a region of the world you previously hadn’t paid attention to.
