Just do the thing that seems scary. There’s no perfect time, just jump in and take the step.
Some of the experiences that changed the course of my life were heeded from this advice. And yet, every time I’m presented with the option to take a chance and do the big thing, I still freeze and doubt myself.
This week, I was on a podcast with a fellow researcher and decided to talk about something I’ve been working on — a book about user research. This is the scary big thing. Scary because there can be million reasons why *now* isn’t a good time. Two little kiddos, a very demanding job, a worldwide pandemic. Things I told myself are all valid reasons for putting it off and working on it later. But there really isn’t a perfect time.
It wasn’t a perfect time when I moved to Oman or San Francisco or when I decided to shift careers into design. But those things changed the course of my life.
And so here we are again at another very scary big thing and we’re just going to jump in, ya’ll.
