You’ve likely heard of the Danish concept of “hygge.” In Germany, it’s called “gemütlichkeit.” Here, winters mean very few hours of sunlight. So I’m learning to embrace the things that Germans embrace to combat these cold, dark days. Like tea and cake in the afternoons. And cozy, wool socks. All the candles. Surprisingly refreshing walks in the forest (even if your hands do get numb). ⁣ Germans will tell you that gemütlichkeit is about more than things.
