What was the road that led you to the work you do now?
I usually save posting about my work life for LinkedIn but the new year has me thinking about my story — the one that took me from the newsroom to managing design research teams.
When I was fresh out of college, I thought I would spend my entire career in the newsroom (the second photo is of me, *super* blonde, with with anchor Dave Elliott in the studio where I got started).
Discovering the world of user research was like discovering a gift. It combined all that I loved about journalism — learning about people, telling their story — with product design. It took people who believed and took a chance on me to help me along my winding road.
I was really thankfully to chat with Tejj, who produces “Nodes of Design” and interviews designers all over the world. We talked about this path and how it’s *never ever* too late to make a career shift.
