Madeline Nguyen, M.P.H. ’21, has worked to ensure that health care is more accessible in New Haven as one of the leaders of Womxn of Color for Maternal & Child Health, a Yale School of Public Health group dedicated to providing health justice for women of color across the city. And she’s just getting started. As a new YSPH grad, Nguyen said, she would like to continue to bring a critical race perspective to all her projects. “I think it’s so important to have that perspective and to be able to think differently than what has been done in the past,” she said. “Even though everyone is really trying to be better in terms of diversity and inclusion efforts, I think sometimes the problem seems so big that we ask the same questions over and over and get lost in all of the different solutions that we could actually implement.” Read more in our Focus special edition magazine (link in bio) #myYSPH #YSPHStudentSpotlight #Yale2021
