I had the opportunity to get outside of the office in Jersey to attend the DevexWorld 2018 Conference held in D.C.! This conference featured leaders in global development from a range of fields including health, business, technology, and advocacy. I’ve never gone to something quite like this and it was illuminating! One of the most moving talks for me was on advocacy, featuring Jaha Dukereh, a phenomenal woman who has worked to end FGM and child marriage in her country (Gambia) through her organization called safe_hands_for_girls and emphasized the importance of communities leading and directing their own efforts! #devexworld #ysph #yale #globaldevelopment #globalhealth #ysphtakeover
