Today in #USOpenCup history (May 30, 2012): If you saw our Twitter thread yesterday (usopencup), Round 3 was one of the all-time craziest rounds. On May 29, *7* #MLS teams were upset (1 by amateur team) & 3 survived some big scares. On May 30, there were 2 games & one was among the greatest upsets ever. After winning road games vs. Kitsap Pumas (a rare pro team in the #PDL) and the Wilmington Hammerheads (#USL Pro), CalFootballClub, led by head coach EricWynalda, was given another road game, this time against Portland #Timbers of MLS. #PTFC registered 37 shots & Cal FC managed to hold off them off, with Derby Carrillo making 15 saves over 120 mins. Cal FC received a gift in the 80th min. because Kris Boyd, the Scottish Premier League's (#SPFL) all-time leading scorer, skied a PK over the bar. In the 95th min.
