The Montgomery bus boycott of December 5, 1955 - December 20, 1956 was a period where African Americans refused to use public bus transport in Montgomery, Alabama to protest segregated bus seating. This boycott, started by Rosa Parks’ arrest after her open refusal to give up her seat to a white man, was the U.S first known large-scale protest of segregation. The protest ultimately led to the integration of Montgomery buses. #UnitedinGOLD charlotte49ers conferenceusa
