The 16th Street Baptist Church bombing on September 15th, 1963 was an event that shook the nation through the pure hatred dispalyed against the African American race in Birmigham, Alabama. The bombing by local KKK members resulted in the deaths of “14-year-olds Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, and 11-year-old Cynthia Wesley, were killed. Addie's sister Sarah survived, but lost her right eye”. In turn, many people of all races were shocked and unsettled, providing support to the families of the deceased girls.
