The Rosewood massacre of 1923 demonstrated the horrors of living in the American South. The race riot broke out due to a rumor against a black man in town, resulting in a white mob forming to attack him. The intensity of the riots resulted in the town being burnt to the ground and numerous African Americans being killed. The riot was poorly documented and no prosecutions were made for the unjust lynching of any of the victims, with a rough estimation of approximately 200 people killed.
