He could not breathe. George Floyd died after Derek Chauvin a white Minneapolis police officer, knelt on Floyd's neck for nearly 8 minutes until George Floyd died. There have been protests across the country, including Omaha. What began as a peaceful protest turned chaotic when some of the protestors began to throw items at the OPD. There was also a scuffle that was forced to be broken up near the Longhorn Steakhouse. Nonetheless, the OPD began using chemical deterrents to push be protesters back. As the night went on many people would be forced to leave the area as it became known that it was no longer a safe place to gather.
