Earlier this week we lost a true hero. Mort Schecter was a tail gunner for the "Belle of the East", a B-24 Liberator Bomber, during World War II. He and the crew survived 35 missions of heavy combat over France and Germany. Mort was always a positive presence at the Hollywood American Legion and volunteered at the VA hospital into his early 90s.
