I’ve spent every year since then celebrating, attending, supporting or participating in one Pride event or another, luckily for me, across the world. Every Pride month and event for me still brings the same excitement and anticipation as the first. However, Pride Month also brings into stark relief that although here, in most parts of the Western hemisphere, we CAN celebrate, many of our LGBTQ+ global family cannot and could be ridiculed, victimised and even killed for just being themselves.
