Brian's Favorite Project: Oversized Winnetka House: We gutted a 3-story house with a basement. One of the solutions we implemented for a structural problem was to install a custom metal beam with hidden supports that hang from the joists to retain an open floor plan while properly supporting an existing stairwell.
