Photography pro tip of the day: Shooting in RAW

Most of my professional photo experience came from working at a job where I was delivering 200+ edited photos a day on top of video editing so doing detailed edits wasn’t possible. JPGs worked. Very recently I got advice to started shooting in RAW. I always thought it was only a larger file thus only making cropping look better. Oh, how wrong I was.

Shooting in RAW has allowed me to make my photos what I want and have been seeing others do for years but never knew how to get there. Using the same custom preset when I compared the same photo in RAW and jpg can’t even be considered the same because one I would post the other I wouldn’t.

These sunflower pictures are my proudest photography work to this day. The final portrait finally resembles what I visualize during the shoot. I also created my first custom preset during this editing session which has amplified some of my past edits.
