The Kickers have done this before. Back in 1995, they’d self-relegated to the fourth-tier in our country, but they ended up winning the greatest trophy of all. A US Open Cup title for the ages. At the helm was Robert Ukrop, who lifted the cup all those years ago and now runs the club as chairman and CEO. For Richmond, it’s the same uphill battle they faced thirty years ago. But there’s a wind at their back. The old bones of City Stadium rejuvenated by a community hungry for glory. Things haven’t been easy over the past season, but if it was possible in 1995… why not now? It all kicked off yesterday with a narrow 1-0 win over Christos FC. The very first step of a thousand-mile-long journey. It’d be foolish to underestimate a winning heritage, and history says they’ve got just what it takes to complete the glorious climb.
