Volunteers with the Chicago Recovery Alliance distribute safe use kits to drug users around Chicago. The goal of harm reduction is to make drug use safer and reduce deaths. This program began in 1991 to combat the spread of HIV infections. Now, the group is in the front lines of dealing with the nationwide opioid crisis.
