“Bleh the Buddha”, the father of sticker character “The Punk Buddha,” has been making a name for himself by “enhancing the public space” since 2011. “Public enhancement” is an umbrella term Bleh coined for both graffiti and street art. “The public space is ours, so let’s put our art on it,” said Bleh. Artists and taggers run the risk of hefty fines, potential jail time, and a criminal record. Bleh himself received a felony after an arrest. It’s hard for most people to imagine putting everything at stake to post stickers across the city. But Bleh explains why it’s worth the consequences for him. “It’s a place where I can be myself in a way,” he said.
