Rachel Tong of utahstatescience moved across the world from Singapore at the age of 17 to attend USU. Through all the changes, she’s thrived. She’s an Honors student who will graduate this spring with a double major in Human Biology and Communication, as well as a double minor in Chemistry and Psychology.
She is an Undergraduate Research Fellow and conducts neurobiology research with faculty mentor Sara Freeman (Biology).
Rachel says that during her time at Utah State, she’s witnessed more women going out in biology than when she started. “It’s amazing to be surrounded by more women. It helps me feel like I can speak up in classes and share my opinion with no judgment.”
Rachel plans to start medical school in 2025 and aspires to be a physician.
Throughout Women’s History Month, we will feature an outstanding woman from each college at USU. Stay tuned to meet the next student!
