After my recent, week-long trip to Belize with
@travelbelize in September, I learned a lot about this Central American country. Here are eight facts you might not know about Belize:
1. Belize is home to the Belize Barrier Reef, the second-largest coral reef system in the world, and the largest coral reef in the Northern and Western hemispheres!
2. More than half of Belize is covered in subtropical jungle and rainforest and is a great place for birding, wildlife photography, and outdoor activities like hiking and ziplining.
3. The food in Belize is amazing! From delicious fresh seafood on the coast to Maya cuisine found inland that goes back centuries, Belize is a great place for foodies.
4. English is the official language of Belize, so it’s very easy to communicate and get around the country if you’re visiting from English-speaking countries.
