Known to Rolex as the Dato-Compax, but to collectors as the ‘Jean Claude Killy,’ the ref. 4767 launched in 1947 and marked a significant milestone, as it was Rolex's first Dato-Compax wristwatch housed within a water-resistant Oyster case. Rolex introduced a total of five distinct Oyster Dato-Compax variations: references 4767, 4768, 5036, 6036, and 6236, all affectionately referred to as 'Jean-Claude Killy' models, nicknamed after the famous French three-time Olympic champion skier who was spotted wearing the model. These watches were crafted in yellow and pink gold, as well as stainless steel, seen here. With less than 24 hours to bid in our Important Watches sale, discover this watch and more in our link in bio before the auction on 7 December at 10 AM ET, presented in partnership with genesishousenyc. #SothebysWatches #Rolex #jeanclaudekilly
