On the heels of Blancpain1735’s unveiling of the Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 3 timepiece, we’re excited to announce that the 70th model of this 555-piece limited-edition series (right) is headed to #SothebysNewYork in our Important Watches auction on 7 December. This year, Blancpain paid homage to the 1953 launch of the world’s first true diver’s watch, the Fifty Fathoms, in three “acts.” Incorporating the highly sought-after MIL-SPEC moisture indicator function originally created for combat divers of the US Navy, this edition foregoes total non-magnetism in favor of a flattering 9K Bronze Gold case. The proceeds from the sale will benefit Oceana, whose charitable work is dedicated to ocean conservation.
