Closing out our #SothebysWrapped🎁 countdown with your favorite watch from this year: the mythical ‘Cartier Cheich'. One of the world’s great watch unicorns, this unique model was born from the legendary collaboration between Cartier and one of the world’s most famous transnational races, The Paris-Dakar (now mostly known as The Dakar Rally). Emerging onto the market for the first time, it led the #SothebysParis ‘Fine Watches’ online auction in September, and sold for just over 1M Euros/1.1M USD – setting a new record for any watch by Cartier to sell at auction in Europe. It saw bidders battling up to the last minute, driving the final price more than twice its high estimate. And with that, we say goodbye to 2022.
