Launched in 2008 at the Basel fair, the Grand Complication 5207 ranks among Patek Philippe’s most complicated wristwatches as it combines a minute repeater, a tourbillon and an instantaneous perpetual calendar.
It took five years for Patek Philippe’s engineers to develop the ingenious mechanism that ensure the disks of the day, the date, the month, and the leap-year cycle to switch simultaneously and synchronously.
Sotheby’s specialist m_a_n_e_g_a demonstrates the triple complications – watch with sound on to hear the ringing.
A highlight of the ‘Important Watches’ live auction on 9 November as part of
#SothebysLuxuryWeek, with an exhibition preceding the auction 4-8 November at the Mandarin Oriental in Geneva.
