One of the most elegant and classic collection of Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar chronographs, the reference 5970 was launched in 2004 and was in fact the first watch designed by the current president Thierry Stern. It was the final perpetual calendar chronograph from the brand to employ a Lemania-based movement, which was replaced by the predecessor reference 5270's in-house movement. Often regarded as the bridge between traditional and modern making of perpetual calendar chronographs, the present example of the 5970 is truly remarkable and the sheer discovery of the existence of the present timepiece is astounding. Among the catalogue of Patek Philippe, bracelets are not often an option for a watch at this calibre, however it could only be commissioned upon special requests for their most important clients.
