The roots of the Cartier Pasha supposedly go back to a timepiece ordered by the Pasha of Marrakech in the early 1930s, who wanted a water resistant watch to keep up with his active lifestyle. Still in Cartier's collection today, the Cartier de Pasha has become an icon in its own right. Indeed, in the early 1980s, legendary watch designer Gerald Genta was commissioned to reimagine the watch with a complication component, which positively broke boundaries for #Cartier, opening a new era for them. His original design, illustrated here, is one of 30 from his personal archives which are open from bidding until 24 February. gerald.genta.heritage cartier #SothebysXGenta #IconofTime #Cartier #sothebyswatches #GeraldGenta
