Our next adventure with accidentallywesanderson takes us to American Museum of Natural History, where we follow the journey of this rare Patek Philippe pocket watch. Famed polar explorer Lincoln Ellsworth discovered his passion for exploration amnh while visiting the Polar Exhibits, which launched his path to leading the first crossing of the Polar Sea on the ‘Norge’ airship. Ellsworth donated many items from his explorations to the museum – except for this pocket watch, which had been along on the North Pole excursion. It features Ellsworth’s name etched into the watch, and an image of the Norge blimp pasted across the middle – obsuring the name of the maker. Believed to be unsigned, upon opening the watch, it was discovered to be a highly sought after Patek Philippe. Made in 1913, this rare and unique pocket watch will head to the auction block in our Important Watches auction on 10 June in #NYC.
