On view in our London galleries from today! Made for King George III, this gold four-minute tourbillon watch is one of the most important timepieces created by Abraham-Louis Breguet, the father of modern horology.
-
Discreetly sold to the King in 1808, in the midst of the Napoleonic Wars, the watch is engraved with George III’s royal cypher and the letters G & R and is probably the first tourbillon ever sold commercially.
-
A true masterpiece, it will be offered in the ‘Collection of a Connoisseur’ auction on 14 July, alongside many other horological wonders. On view until 13 July.
