The first reference to feature the ‘Cosmograph’ dial designation, Rolex’s iconic reference 6239 was introduced in 1963. Production included a number of so-called ‘exotic’ dial configurations, combining black and white and sometimes red accents. Later famously nicknamed the ‘Paul Newman’, the dial is characterised by square markers and the alternating patterning of the coloration.
