A space-age Easter egg? No it's a watch! With a movement created by Mattheus Hallaycher of Augsburg around 1680, this rare spherical watch appears to be an intriguing attempt to replicate the principles of a pendulum, within a portable timepiece. Made around two decades after Huygens' successful application of a pendulum in a clock, this treasure of horology was sold for CHF 23,750 in Geneva in November 2019, during Part II of the legendary Masterworks of Time collection.
