Made for Pan Am pilots in the 1950s, the Rolex GMT Master has travelled through the ages to become one of the most iconic world timer watches. Produced from 1959 to around 1980, the reference 1675 itself is one of the most emblematic Rolex models ever produced. Made in 1961, the present stainless steel dual-time wristwatch with date and bracelet dates from just two years after the introduction of the model and has been in the same private collection for many years. Part of the early production, it bears several highly collectable details, including the so-called ‘eagle beak’ crown guards, named after their curved pointed shape and a hotly sought-after tropical dial whose original black colour turned into a deep rich brown shade over time.
