Dive in! The Radiomir Reference 3646 was developed by Panerai in collaboration with Rolex for the frogmen of the Italian Navy. Designed to withstand extreme underwater conditions and remain legible in pitch black darkness, the watch was equipped with the ‘sandwich dial’ which is today emblematic of the brand. Made circa 1943, this watch is an early Radiomir type D and its inner caseback is stamped with the Rolex signature, the serial and reference number. In its original condition, with the 1943 plexiglass, dial and hands, the timepiece has until now remained in the family of Sergeant H. Fisher, N.C.O. A member of the British Army of the Rhine, he was an interpreter at the war crime tribunals in Germany following WWII. Estimated at £26,000 - 35,000, the watch is one of the highlights of our “Watches Online” sale, open for bidding until Wednesday 17 Jul 2019 (3pm BST) #SothebysWatches #Panerai #Radiomir #PaneraiWatch #RolexPanerai
