Produced between 1964 and 1968, the Omega Speedmaster reference 105.012-65 ‘Buzz Aldrin’ represents a milestone in the Speedmaster’s development, as it introduced the chronograph’s case design as we know it today, favoring integrated crown-guards, twisted lugs, and shorter, wider pushers. With space exploration in mind, this new case construction further-strengthened the chronograph’s reliability and user-friendliness in extreme conditions, and the reference was selected to accompany the Astronauts in the Apollo missions. With an estimate of $10/15,000, the present watch is accompanied by an Omega presentation box autographed by Buzz Aldrin. Visit our York Avenue galleries this weekend to view all 50 Omega Speedmasters on public exhibition ahead of our 19 July Omega Speedmaster: To the Moon and Back auction, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
