Released in 1954, Rolex’s Reference 6542 became the official timepiece of Pan-Am Airline, and was the first Rolex GMT-Master ever produced. Pan-Am’s pilots found the watch to be a useful tool in the cockpit, where many timing calculations were necessary over the duration of a flight. With an estimate of $20/30,000, the present example has been well preserved and is exceedingly rare to see in yellow gold. Make time to visit our public exhibition on York Avenue this weekend to view the present timepiece and more highlights on offer in our 4 June Important Watches auction in #NYC. #SothebysWatches #Rolex #GMTMaster #YellowGold #Watch #Wristwatch #WatchGeek #WatchesofInstagram
