British ceramist Richard Slee’s influences derive from the eighteenth-century pottery manufactories around Stoke-on-Trent in England known for mass-produced wares in the style of German, Dutch and Chinese porcelain. Decidededly unfunctional, Slee's 'Boy in Field,' 1997 emphasizes his style of conversing between the familiar and the ornate, often to reach a humorous result.
