Next up, The Year in #Design: 2017 was the year of increased recognition for French and Italian favorites and the stratospheric rise of ceramics. Top lots in this category included early works by #JeanMichelFrank, mid-century designs by #JeanRoyère, #JeanProuvé and #CharlottePerriand, as well as contemporary pieces by #FrançoisXavier and #ClaudeLalanne. Also among our strongest lots were lighting designs by Alberto Giacometti; in particular, his plaster ceiling light. And then there were ceramics: we saw continued success with prime examples by #HansCoper and #LucieRie before a stunning result for “Rondena,” an early monumental stoneware sculpture by #PeterVoulkos, stole the spotlight in December.
