Painted right after his acclaimed show at Leo Castelli Gallery in 1965, 'Paramus' features a vibrant screen of colors on a shaped canvas. Meant to imitate a 1960s convex television set, the painting depicts the view from a spaceship of an astronaut's hometown at the time of the Apollo missions, as seen on TV. Here Rosenquist carries the work outside Leo Castelli right after it was painted in 1966, alongside another photo taken today from our 20th Century & Contemporary Art auction preview.
